I had made the Mt. Pinatubo Trek twice last year. The first was on January 3, 2009 with Jasper and Dru, then the following month on February 8, 2009 with Binggoy, Bong. Chris, and RJ. Also in Pampanga, I tried the ultra-lite plane ride around Mt. Arayat at the Angeles City Flying Club on April 25, 2009.
This time, I combined the two and took the Mount Pinatubo Sky Tour through Omni Aviation (http://omniaviation.com/). I first heard about this through Ivan Henares when he blogged about it last year. Omni Aviation is actually owned by my cousin, Ben Hur Gomez, but I didn’t want to use that info when I called to make a reservation (nahiya ako) so I paid the full amount.

Getting to Omni is the easiest. I took took the SCTEX, made a left. Exit and pay P3. Pass Yokohama, make a right at the stoplight. Under the bridge make a right.
My flight was originally scheduled for 7am. But apparently that wasn’t smart. The clouds over Pinatuba are pretty thick ion the morning. We had to wait around an hour before we could go… or else… I wouldn’t see anything.
I went to the nearby McDonald’s pass the time. Around 8:15am they gave me a call and we were ready to go.
Below are some of the 54 pics I took from the cockpit.
En route to the volcano
Along the way, I caught view of the path we took for the trek.
Here’s a 3:17 min video of scenes from the cockpit… from takeoff to landing. And yes with the original engine soundtrack. It kinda chronicles the trip. Wait till you get to scenes of the volcano crater.
And that ends the tour.

Oh… Photo Note:
I actually had my Nikon D90 SLR with me in the plane, but I didn’t get to use it. It was so cramped for me to use it from inside and there was no way I was opening the window… hehe. All the pics and video are courtesy of my Sony Cybershot.

Very nice pics. While going in Pampanga dont miss to visit Mount Pinatubo. Abusilan’s Mountain range is attract many tourist especially adventurous lovers. In March 1991 they suffer from major earthquakes and many are lost their life. Don’t fail to visit Pinatubo Spa Town.
